New Nature Communication publication on sulfur exacerbating mercury contamination in the Everglades
Media Resources
I'm please to share that a recent study led my by group at UC Davis was published in Nature Communications (link). The study highlights how agricultural uses of sulfur exacerbate the formation of toxic methylmercury in wetlands, and established a framework to consider how land and water managers can solve this problem. This was a collaborative effort conducted over many years with colleagues at the U.S. Geological Survey, and was supported by the USGS Priority Ecosystems Sciences program. To learn more about the study or what it's like to conduct field work in this system, please check out this "Behind the Paper" post on the Springer Nature website (link).
